Your Housing Options

The demand for housing in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole region is high, making the housing market strong and competitive.  The constant demand drives the price of housing up, reducing the supply of affordable accommodation for households on a low or average income.

To give yourself the best opportunity to secure affordable accommodation we advise you to create a plan and address any barriers that might adversely affect your ability to access the housing market including debts, poor credit history, references, right to rent identification, savings and income.  Assessing your financial situation in relation to your income and outgoings will enable you to establish what you can afford to rent and/or buy.

Identify the housing options available to you and your household and begin the application and search process. The increasing demand for social housing and shortage in supply, means that even households with the most urgent need wait for an offer of social housing.

Once you have applied to BCP HomeChoice, if you qualify to join, an allocation for accommodation will not be immediate and we therefore recommend that you consider all the options available to you.  BCP’s website hosts advice on a range of housing options and how to access them.
